How QZ works

QZ connects to a permanent positive point (+) and a chassis ground point (−), without touching the vehicle's electronics — no OBD, no CAN bus.

It arrives ready. Every device is configured before it ships and calibrated individually against a reference meter — not by a formula for the whole batch, but one unit at a time. Two units from the same delivery differ in their offsets, which is precisely why each one is measured on its own. You connect two wires; there is nothing to set up.

1 · Connect

Red lead to a permanent positive point, black to an approved chassis ground. Installation takes about 10 minutes on most vehicles — DIY or at a workshop.

2 · QZ watches

Over its built-in 4G connection — no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth. SIM and mobile data are included in the active service. Works wherever there is phone signal.

3 · It alerts you

A push notification says in plain language what is happening and what to do. No need to open the app.

Activation guides you step by step: QR code on the device, alerts on your phone, done. After that, only notifications when action is needed.

Quick install manual

Most people fit it themselves in about 10 minutes. If you would rather not, any workshop can do it — it is not an intervention in the vehicle's electronics.

PrepareSwitch off the engine and ignition. Leave the key outside the car. Open the battery compartment.

Positive (+)Connect the red lead to the designated permanent positive point. Tighten to the vehicle manufacturer's torque.

Ground (−)Connect the black lead to an approved chassis ground point — not directly to the negative post. Cars with an intelligent battery sensor (IBS) measure consumption at the negative post, and QZ connected straight to it would bypass the sensor. If you do not know whether your car has one, the chassis point is correct either way.

PlacementThe underside of the device carries double-sided tape. Wipe the spot dry and degrease it first — the tape will not hold on dust or oil. Then peel off the liner, press the device onto the battery or onto a firm surface as close to it as possible, and hold it down for a few seconds. It has to sit tight: the device senses vehicle movement with an internal sensor, so one left dangling reports movement that is not happening.

ActivateScan the activation QR code on the other side of the card and follow the app. The first connection can take up to 10 minutes while the device registers with the mobile network for the first time — that is normal. The video above shows the whole process.

The indicator lights

The device has two lights. They report its own state, not the battery's.

White light	Meaning
Blinking once a second	Awake
Blinking once every two seconds	Sleep — the normal state of a fitted device
Short fast flicker	Talking to the mobile network
Off	Starting up, or not working

Blue light	Meaning
Blinking once a second	Position acquired
On permanently	Searching for a position
Off	Switched off, or the device is asleep

Fast continuous blinking means a firmware update is in progress. Do not disconnect power while it lasts. And above all: successful activation is confirmed by the app, not by the lights.

When nothing seems to happen

What you see	What it means
Nothing lights up right after wiring	The device is starting. Give it 1–2 minutes.
White blinks once every two seconds	All is well — this is what normal operation looks like.
White is blinking, nothing in the app yet	The device is alive and reporting. In an underground garage this can take longer.
Still nothing after several minutes	Check both terminal connections.
