Motorway e-vignette
You need a valid e-vignette, tied to your licence plate, before entering a Czech motorway. It comes as a 1-day, 10-day or annual pass; the 2026 annual vignette costs 2,570 CZK (about €106) from 1 January 2026. Since 2025 you choose the start date yourself — immediately or up to 3 months ahead. Driving without a vignette means a fine. Buy only on the official portal edalnice.gov.cz — scam lookalike sites exist and may overcharge you or sell an invalid vignette.

Czechia has no separate section toll for cars — the e-vignette covers all tolled motorways, and this official map shows exactly which sections require it. Note that mytocz.eu is the per-kilometre toll system for vehicles over 3.5 t only, so as a car driver you do not need it.

The European emergency number 112 works everywhere in Czechia. The national numbers are 155 for ambulance, 158 for police, 150 for the fire service and 156 for municipal police. After an accident with injuries you must call for help and stay at the scene.

Every vehicle registered in Czechia must carry compulsory third-party liability insurance, known locally as povinné ručení. Česká kancelář pojistitelů (ČKP) is the official Czech Insurers' Bureau — it runs the guarantee fund, issues green cards and keeps the register of uninsured vehicles.
