Road user charge (cars exempt)
Latvia has no vignette for passenger cars. The road user charge (autoceļu lietošanas nodeva) applies only to freight vehicles over 3,000 kg (combinations over 3,500 kg) — for a car there is nothing to buy. Important: some reseller websites sell a 'Latvia vignette' to car drivers — they are selling you nothing, because cars are exempt. Freight vehicles that do owe the charge pay it through CSDD's portal (e.csdd.lv).

There are no toll roads for passenger cars in Latvia — the road network is free to use. There is nothing to buy and no toll account to set up. Important: any website offering to sell you a Latvian road toll for a car is selling you nothing.

Vehicle registration in Latvia is handled by CSDD, with online e-services at e.csdd.lv. CSDD is an unusually consolidated authority: registration, technical inspection, insurance matters and the freight road charge all sit in one place, so e.csdd.lv is the single portal for most vehicle paperwork.
