Does QZ drain the battery?
Between measurements it sleeps. In normal operation it draws a few mA (the manufacturer states 5.3 mA in sleep). On our bench a small 14 Ah motorcycle battery, taken off its maintenance charger, went from 100 % to about 85 % in 12 days with QZ connected — on a typical 60 Ah car battery that is roughly 2 % per week. And as the voltage falls, QZ tells you. It is designed to handle cars that sit for months.
Does it work in an underground garage?
QZ communicates over the mobile network. If even a weak signal reaches the garage, it works. If there is no signal at all, it sends the data once the connection is restored.
Will I lose my car's warranty?
Connecting at the battery normally involves no intervention in the vehicle's electronics — QZ uses neither OBD nor the CAN bus. Warranty terms can nevertheless vary by manufacturer and specific vehicle.
Do I need an app?
The app runs in the browser. On first launch we guide you through enabling alerts — on iPhone you add the app to your home screen (we show you how), on Android you just allow notifications. After that, alerts arrive on their own, without opening the app.
What happens after the first year?
The service continues at 49 €/year (less with multiple vehicles). We notify you before renewal and you can cancel at any time.
Which maintenance charger do you recommend?
On our own test bench we use the CTEK MXS 5.0 — we have no ties to the manufacturer; we recommend what we use ourselves. If the car sits next to a socket, it is a good companion to QZ: the monitoring also confirms the charger is actually charging.
Which batteries and vehicles?
12V lead-acid batteries of all types (standard, EFB, AGM, GEL) as well as LiFePO4 — in cars, motorbikes, campers and EVs.
I'm not technical. Can I manage it?
You do not have to be. Any workshop can fit it — it is a short job: red lead to plus, black to a chassis ground, about 10 minutes on most vehicles. The manufacturer requires a qualified person to connect it. If you are unsure whether QZ suits your car, write to us before ordering.
What if it's not for me?
Online purchases come with a 14-day no-questions return window. You may reasonably try the device to verify it works. If it shows visible wear or installation damage, the refund can be proportionately reduced.
Does it rely on Wi-Fi or a home network?
No. The mobile network (4G LTE) is included in the device price — no separate monthly connectivity fee. After the first year, active alerts require a service renewal (49 €/year).
Does QZ replace a workshop battery test?
No. QZ tracks how the battery behaves in real life and warns about risk. A workshop can precisely measure CCA (load test), parasitic drain and current capacity — QZ doesn't do that. If QZ shows repeated weakening, we recommend a workshop check.
Can I set my own warning threshold?
No, and that is deliberate. QZ sets the limits for your battery type, from the battery manufacturers' data and our own measurements on real cars. A limit chosen by hand can easily end up too low, and then the warning comes too late. For lead-acid batteries (standard, EFB, AGM, GEL), the first reminder to charge comes while the battery is still around two thirds charged, so you have time to react. QZ also learns how your battery normally behaves and tells you when it starts behaving differently. You can see the limits as lines in the chart in the app.
Does QZ work in an electric or hybrid car?
Yes. QZ watches the 12V auxiliary battery, which electric and hybrid cars have too. It is recharged by a converter from the traction battery while the car is switched on, and in some cars also while parked. QZ shows these recharges in the history. We keep validating how the 12V battery behaves in electric cars on real data.
I have a charger port (e.g. CTEK) on my battery. Is that a problem?
No. QZ connects to the battery independently of the port and works alongside it. When you charge through the port, QZ sees it and shows it as charging in the history.
Does the SIM work abroad?
Yes. The included SIM and data work in 135 countries, including every EU country, with no extra charges and no second SIM card.

For now we deliver to Slovakia; Germany and Austria are in preparation. If you live elsewhere, write to us at

I'm VAT-registered — how do I enter my VAT ID?
At checkout click "Add Tax ID", pick your country and enter the number without the country prefix. EU B2B reverse charge is verified via VIES and applied automatically — no Slovak VAT.
